The Dippers is a cozy and easy to wear cowl and shawlette hybrid. Designed to use just one skein of Tekla, This cowlette is a perfect way to experiment with Quarter Moon Fiber Company’s flagship fiber. Inspired by the night sky, this cowlette depicts the Big and Little Dipper constellations. The Dippers are usually the first constellation that we learn to identify as children, and as a result, it is one of the most recognized across the world. No matter where I traveled in the world, if I looked up at the right moment in time, there they were. The Big and Little Dipper constellations should be seen as a reminder to us that we all share the same sky.
The Dippers begins as a simple half pi shawl that is then joined in the round. Then, the beginner friendly lace motif is knitted. It is completely up to the knitter whether or not beads are added. I love the extra sparkle that beads provide, but the design looks just as stunning without. The Dippers allows knitters to hold the night sky in their hands while celebrating the unification of all.
