The Fibonacci Cowl by Diane L. Augustin

The Fibonacci Cowl

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

The Fibonacci Cowl Class is a 2-color, reversible cowl that can be worn as a loop, doubled as a cowl and also pulled up to be a hooded scarf.

The pattern harmoniously blends two colors using the Fibonacci numbering sequence in the row count. Both colors fall into an attractive arrangement, found often in nature, starting with one color and ending with the second color.

The reversible cowl is 8” wide x 60” in circumference. It can be worn as a loop, doubled at the neck or pulled up to form a hooded scarf. Two contrasting colors of Misti Alpaca, Baby Me Boo yarn are knit this project. It was knit with size 9 circular needles in a 24 inch length.

The Fibonacci numbering sequence may also be applied to stitch patterns as well as color changes in the rounds. Have fun creating new designs using this numbering sequence.

Just posted: A Treasury List on Etsy, featuring items using created using the Fibonacci sequence, including my pattern. Thanks, Claire.

The buttercup and Thistle Pod version was knit with Cestari Floral Collection 100% Fine Merino Wool and the pattern row counts have been modified. I’ve included a second version in the pattern.

Panda Pearl from Crystal Palace Yarns was used in the lovely earth toned version.
