I created this pattern for the charity knitting Facebook Group “The Gift of Warmth”, formerly known as “Fish ‘n Chip Babies”. The brief was for a simple sweater that buttoned on the shoulder for children from 2 upwards. I have kept it as simple as possible, giving instructions for a plain sweater with the addition of a row count for the stripes. It has a square neck with the garter stitch neckline incorporated with the knitting of the main body, so no picking up stitches around the neck.
This is the first bigger sized pattern and over the next few weeks I hope to have the same sweater in the next size up, to fit 4 to 6 year olds.
The sweater finished measurement is chest 24” and the length is 15”.
You may knit this pattern for personal use but it would be so lovely if you could knit and donate an extra one for either this or any other charity.
