• Hat is worked from bottom up. The band is crocheted in rows equal to the circumference of the hat and then seamed. The hat is then worked in the round. The band is meant to be folded up when finished.
• The sizing of this pattern fits teens to small adults.
• I have used Lion Brand Hometown USA and Lion Brand Thick and Quick yarn for this project. Be sure to check your gauge if using any other kind.
• I use a smaller hook size for the band of the hat to ensure a snug fit. If you wish to have a looser fit, then the USM13/9.00mm crochet hook can be used for the entire project.
• Beginning chains DO NOT count as a stitch.
• This project uses the Berry Stitch. The Berry Stitch is completed as follows:
• YO, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop
• YO, pull through one loop on hook
• YO, insert hook back into the same stitch, pull up a loop
• YO, pull through one loop on hook
• YO, pull through all five loops on hook
• If you are a visual learner, there are many good videos on YouTube that show how to work the Berry Stitch.
• As you work the Berry Stitch, use your finger to push the “berry” to the front of the work.
