This sweater is for all you hip cats that like to wear your hearts on your sleeves. Well, in this case, on your pockets. Perfect for a night out at the Soda Shop with your main squeeze, the sweater was inspired by the letterman’s cardigans made popular in the 1950’s.

Updated for a modern look with hoodie-style pockets, and emblazoned with a scarlet A, the Scarlet Letterman’s Jacket perfectly marries form and function. Worn with pride, the scarlet A is a fashion statement that says, “I’m never ashamed to be me.” So be you Daddy-O.

The Scarlet Letterman’s Jacket is worked top down with contiguous raglan sleeves. Stitches are picked up for the button band, and a special bind-off is used to create the shawl collar. A photo tutorial of this technique is included. I would rate this sweater at an advanced beginner-intermediate difficulty. The yoke is worked in intarsia and you should have experience with that technique before beginning the sweater.

My sizing is based on bust size as follows:

32”(36, 40, 44, 48, 52)

Yardage: 1600(1800, 2000, 2200, 2400, 2600). This is the total yardage and reflects an equal amount of each color (so for size small you will need 800 yards of each color, 900 yards of each for size medium, etc…).
