The Three Sisters Shawl is a simple, clean-lined three color garter stitch shawl with neat I-cord edges, a fun keyhole detail at the bottom where the colors converge, and super- special triple tassels. It gets its name from the Native American farming technique of planting beans, corn, and squash together. The corn gives a structure for the beans to climb, the squash covers the ground and helps prevent weeds, and the beans put nitrogen back into the ground to nourish the others. Support, protection, and nourishment. To me this is a beautiful illustration of community and sisterly love. This shawl is a perfect project for sisters, mothers, daughters, or besties. It uses four skeins of Chasing Rabbits Fiber Co’s fingering weight Fern base.
