Who can resist a quick to knit aran sock? Once I completed the first sock the centered cable and tweedy yarn brought to mind something you would find in a Land’s End catalog. Also, the person I created these for wanted to replace something he had owned previously. Together these factors led to the title ‘The Usual’.

Details: The foot of the sock is knit the purl side out so the inside is smooth for the wearer. The sock is knit as a tube then the heel is knit last. That is the only finishing. Be sure to read all of the instructions for each section prior to starting. Part of the charm of this sock comes from the color block construction. A second color (CC) is used for the toe, heel, and cuff. Only one color is used at a time.

Sizes: Womens, (Mens/Womens Wide, Mens Wide)
As these socks are knit from the toe up it is very easy to adjust width and length.

Yarn: 3 balls of Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed. MC: Natural, 2 balls; CC: Chestnut, 1 ball.

Needle: Size 5/3.75mm DPNs or 1 long circular. The gauge is measured using a 1x1 ribbed pattern unstretched.
