Get ready for cold weather with this elegant bulky scarf featuring the easy Iris Stitch and dreamy, soft yarn! The Winter Rose Scarf pattern is perfect for crochet beginners, with a one-row repeat using basic stitches like double crochet. Using bulky yarn to makes this scarf a super quick project to crochet while hibernating in front of the television.

Red Heart Hygge yarn takes this project to the next level with its soft and silky feel, and the lacy nature of the Iris Stitch helps this scarf from being too chunky. A fun fringe detail finishes this gorgeous scarf for an essential addition to your winter wearables!

This pattern is written in standard US terms.

Skill Level - Beginner Plus

GAUGE:

  • 4 iris stitches plus turning chain and last double crochet = 7 inches (this is the finished width of the scarf)
  • 5 rows = 4.5 inches

(Gauge is not important for this project as long as 4 iris stitches are worked as indicated in the instructions for Row 2 to create the width of your finished scarf)

Finished length of the featured scarf (not including fringe) = 85.5 inches

The featured scarf is made with Hygge yarn by Red Heart Yarns in the Rust Colorway - #5/Bulky weight Weight 70% Acrylic, 30% Nylon and uses US Size M/8.00 mm crochet hook.

I used just under two skeins of the 8oz version of this yarn, totaling 424 yards.
