This striking shawl is easy to knit, and is easily customized. Anything from a little bandana to a giant shoulder wrap is possible. It is worked entirely in garter stitch, and begins with a provisional cast on.

The pattern includes two sizes, as well as 2 different stripe patterns for each size. The 2-colour design is shown in the small size, and the 3-colour design is shown in the large size. The stripe pattern is also easily changed if you’d like something different from the pattern.

Gauge is not critical, but will affect the finished size. You will need 2 circular needles of the same size, each at least 80 cm / 32 inches long.

The small, 2-colour sample was knit in a light fingering (sock) yarn at a gauge of 25 sts and 48 rows in garter st (post-blocking). The finished size is 120 cm across the top, and 60 cm deep at the widest point.

The large, 3-colour sample was knit in a fingering weight yarn, at a gauge of 22 sts and 42 rows in garter st (post-blocking). The finished size is 160 cm across the top, and 80 cm deep at the widest point.

Yarn requirements for the 2-colour design:

Small:
C1 (shown in black) - 220 m / 240 yds
C2 (shown in cream) - 400 m / 435 yds

Large:
C1 - 385 m / 415 yds
C2 - 700 m / 760 yds

Yarn requirements for the 3-colour design:

Small:
C1 - 460 m / 500 yds
C2 - 115 m / 125 yds
C3 - 48 m / 52 yds

Large:
C1 (shown in light blue) - 800 m / 865 yds
C2 (shown in navy blue) - 200 m / 215 yds
C3 (shown in deep pink) - 83 m / 90 yds
