Tommy the T-Rex is mischevious and cute. He tries very hard to be a scary dinosaur baring his pointy, white teeth but how can something this adorable really scare anyone?

Tommy is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in US (American) terms. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My Tommy is approximately 23cm tall (9 inches).

You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).

You will need:

  • 2.75mm hook/C-2 (US)
  • 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted > 50g yarn in GREEN, 25g yarn in ORANGE
  • 4ply yarn or embroidery thread in WHITE
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • 7.5mm plastic safety eyes
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Notes:

  • A yarn with no stretch is best for amigurumi, I ordinarily use cotton or cotton blend.
  • When changing colour, pull through new colour on the last stitch of the row prior.
  • Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round (unless it says otherwise).
  • Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
  • For this pattern, the following yarns were used: o GREEN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK Col “425 Pistachio Green” o ORANGE = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK Col “409 Light Camel”
  • I have used plastic safety eyes but you may also embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
