This pattern is simple enough for the novice sock knitter to follow, with detailed written instructions. It is also interesting enough for the intuitive experienced sock knitter, who will be able to refer to the directions occasionally for minor direction once the pattern is established. Sock is published in 2 sizes. The pattern allows for a reasonable stretch around the circumference and so can be knit in the smaller size adjusting only for length. Size large is suited to a large circumference foot. A larger quantity of yarn may be required for larger man sock length. The afterthought heel design has been used for continuity of colour while working with a gradient or stripe yarn. An alternate heel of your choice could be worked if you care to adapt the pattern.

Sample was knit both from a hand dyed yarn, and a double knit sock blank. Either is appropriate for the pattern.
