Named after New Zealand’s iconic reptile, Tuatara is the perfect lounging sock. Thick and soft, these will keep your feet nice and toasty as you put them up for a well deserved break. Or wear them in boots in winter to provide maximum comfort when your do need to be more active. Unisex in design, the simple textural garter rib keeps them interesting but doesn’t diminish their candidacy as a TV knitting project.

The knitting in Tuatara is straight-forward, well within the reach of a beginner sock knitter. There is no gusset, just a standard short-row heel. These socks are worked from the toe-up, the toe requires the use of Judy’s Magic or the Turkish cast on. Knit this pattern using the Magic Loop method, or two-circulars, or double-point needles - whatever you prefer.
