t’s been a while since I had the idea to knit a completely reversible cardigan. I tried a lot of things, but either the edge stitches weren’t so nice or the increases didn’t look so good from the wrong side.

Using the selvedge stitch closed methode , developed by Assia Brill, resulted in a handsome edge from both sides and the increases worked as lifted increases looked good from both sides. Finally, I had a cardigan that could be worn from both sides.
The cardigan is worked completely seamless from top to bottom in garter stitch, either almost monochrome or with blocks of color.
For a nice summer version work the cardigan cropped with ¾ sleeves or work a longer cardigan with long sleeves and a straight fit or an A-line - there are lots of possibilities to make it your own.
Instructions for both versions showed on the photos are included in the pattern.

Both the selvedge stitch closed method and increases are explained with photo tutorials.

Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL)
Bust circumference of the finished cardigan (not overlapping)
33.5 (36.2 - 39.0 - 42.5 - 45.7 - 49.2)”
85(92 – 99 – 108 – 116 – 125) cm
To achieve a good fit in the shoulder area, the upper cross back width is crucial first. If necessary, the required bust circumference can be adjusted by increases. Therefore, it is better to start with the next smaller size if necessary.

Yarn:
The nearly monochrome cardigan on the photo is worked with Ferner, Merino 120, (131yds/120m per 50g), col. M402 (main color), col. M421 (CC1) and Wollmeise DK (468yds/428m per 200g) col. Zimtapfel (CC2).

The amount of yarn needed depends on the choice of wool, individual knitting strength and especially the length of the jacket. The quantity given here is calculated for a cardigan with a lower body length of approx. 15” / 38cm and long sleeves and a nearly monochrome version.
