Up and Out is knit from the bottom up and is fast and super easy to knit. Cast on a few stitches and work in garter stitch, increasing every row to make the scarf grow longer and wider. It has a gently curved lower edge and a crescent shape. Wear it tied in the front or like a bandana with the ends wrapped around. You’ll need about 200-218 yards of worsted weight yarn and a size 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needle for a scarf that finished at 56” along neckline x 9.5” deep at center back. Looks good knit in solids, speckled, long color runs, small skeins or scrap yarn. You can make this in any weight of yarn by changing the needle size to suit the yarn. Make it larger or even add a border to the bottom edge to turn it into a shawl.
