The pattern has instructions for both cuff down and toe up socks and is written for magic loop, but can easily be modified for double pointed needles.

The toe up pattern has a reinforced no pick up heel knitted with contrast colour (you can knit it also with the main colour).

The cuff down pattern gives you two options for the heel, a normal contrast colour reinforced heel flap with short row heel turn and gusset decreases on the sole and a reinforced Strong Heel which is worked with the main colour.
