Walden are timeless socks that are worked from the cuff down.

The cuff is knitted in a 1x1 ribbing with twisted knit stitches. On a reverse stockinette stitch background there are travelling twisted stitch patterns on both sides of the leg. Small cables emerge from the upper pattern, lead towards the ankle and transform into small lines that run along the sides of the foot towards the toes. The heels are reinforced by a variation of the slipped stitch heel pattern and a round French heel, giving a perfect fit.

The socks are for adventurous beginners who want to dip their toes into slip stitch knitting but are also fun for the more experienced knitter.

SIZES

Finished foot circumference: 17.5 (18.75, 20, 21.25, 22.5) cm / 7 (7.5, 7.75, 8.25, 8.75)” – recommended to be worn with 2.5 cm / 1” of negative ease.

YARN
Mominoki Yarn Finnwool (100% non-superwash virgin wool; 360 metres / 395 yards per 100 g)

275 (305, 325, 350, 360) metres / 300 (335, 355, 380, 395) yards

Sample shown is knit in colourway Curry. Emma wears a size 3 with 4 cm / 1.5” of negative ease. Paloma wears a size 3 with 2 cm / 0.75” of negative ease.

NEEDLES
2.25 mm / US 1 circular needle with a cable length of at least 80 cm / 32” (or needle size to obtain gauge)

This pattern uses the magic loop technique. To use double-pointed needles, divide sts between 4 needles, and rearrange sts accordingly to accommodate the cables.
