This horse is an ode to my own pony, Watson, and his bestest friend, Sparrow. They love to play together and can often be found leisurely grazing from one end of the field to the other.

Watson and Sparrow are knit in the round from the bottom up and their sweaters are worked flat from the top down. The barn kitty is worked in the round using icords and fits in the pockets of the large horses. The small horses have carrots for their pockets.

Materials:

Yarn for Large horses - Soft Singles from Colorwae Fiber Arts, Bulky weight, 76 yds/69 m. One skein each of Dark Moon (hooves), Fall Back (Sparrow/Watson’s lighter hooves) and Natural (Watson).
For large horse sweaters - Color DK Superwash Merino from Colorwae Fiber Arts, 231 yds/211 m. Sweater used about 165 yds/151 m of yarn held double. Sample sweaters used Ox Blood (Sparrow) and Tiger King (Watson). For a slightly smaller sweater use sport weight yarn held double.
Yarn for Small horses - Color DK Superwash Merino from Colorwae Fiber Arts, 20 yds/18 m for the hooves and mane/tail and 70 yds/64 m for the horse. For the sweater - 40 yds/37 m fingering weight yarn.
Yarn For Barn Kitty - fingering weight yarn, about 15 yds/14 m.
