Whispering Mushroom
Ever since childhood, mushrooms have felt like a symbol of quiet magic to me. They appear suddenly in the forest, like little secrets waiting to be discovered under leaves and moss. When I was a child, weekends often meant walks in the woods with my family — baskets in hand, searching for mushrooms and treasures of the forest floor.
Those memories stayed with me, and they always bring me a sense of coziness and wonder.
This crochet mushroom was born from that feeling — a tiny keepsake of the forest you can make with your own hands. It’s a versatile design:
- turn it into an ornament to hang on your Christmas tree or around the house, filling your space with woodland charm.
- or add a clasp and use it as a bag charm, carrying a sprinkle of forest magic with you wherever you go.
What I love most about this pattern is that every mushroom turns out a little different, just like in nature — no two are ever the same. With a simple shape, it invites you to play with colors and textures, making each creation unique and personal.
This mushroom is more than a small crochet piece — it’s a reminder of the forest, of slow walks, and of the joy found in the tiniest details. I hope, as you crochet it, you’ll feel that same gentle sense of wonder and connection to nature.
SKILL LEVEL:
Easy
YARN:
I used:
Drops Safran
CROCHET HOOK:
2.5 mm (B)
Embroidery needles
Stitch markers
Scissors
Poly Fill (stuffing)
SIZE:
If a 2.5mm crochet hook is used, your personalized mushroom will be approximately 9 cm tall (about 3.5 inches tall). You can use the same pattern to make smaller or larger mushroom by using thinner or thicker yarn.
NOTES:
- No-sew project
- I used the X-shaped single crochet stitch (to do is ‘yarn under your hook’ instead of ‘yarn over’).
