Wicked Socks Pattern, a toe-up, charted, colorwork pattern using 2 circular needles and is great for pairing two solid colors or one solid with a self-striping or variegated yarn.

About the pattern: When I first dyed black & white self-striping yarn, I thought of the Wicked Witch in the “Wizard of Oz” movie. Using the red accent yarn, I created a pattern swerving left and right, just as I envisioned a witch would fly on her broom! Smocked stitches round out the fun techniques for these very ‘wicked’ socks.

Available in Medium and Large width, this colorwork pattern uses 2 fingering weight yarns on 2 circular needles in a charted pattern. Suitable for intermediate-advanced sock knitters familiar with sock construction and colorwork/stranded techniques.

  • Needles: Two circular 2.75mm needles or whichever size to achieve gauge. (I used 2 - 16” circulars)

  • Yarn for Medium: One 50 gram ball of fingering weight yarn in a Main Color, and one 50 gram ball in Contrast Color.

  • Yarn for Large: Two 50 gram balls of MC, one 50 gram ball in CC.

  • Pattern includes color charts for the instep and foot. The pattern is a downloadable digital file in .pdf format.
