So let me tell you a bit about the Wild Garden Sock Collection!

-I love variegated yarns! But found myself struggling to use them because I couldn’t find a pattern and wanted something more engaging than a basic sock.

-But I also didn’t want to think too much…not refer to the pattern constantly…but rather be able to knit while watching a show or visiting.

-And I wanted the texture to compliment the colourful yarn…not just get lost in the colour.

So Wild Garden was created!

Simple, intuitive texture, designed to highlight variegated yarns, without getting lost.

There are 3 designs included in this collection:

Pollen: very simple texture, looks great in every yarn, no matter how wild, only 1 level up from the most basic sock.

Garden Path: a short, easily remembered and totally addicting, texture repeat. Total TV knitting.

Hive Dweller: texture without purling!! Just twisted stitches and an intuitive repeat. I particularly love this one in a heavily speckled yarn too.

These socks are constructed from the cuff down. We start by casting on using a stretchy method. I prefer the German Twisted cast on, but you can use whichever stretchy CO is your favourite. The leg is then worked in the round to the heel flap. I have worked the pattern repeats on both sides of the sock leg, however, they would be just as fun with a stockinette stitch back! The heel flap is worked back and forth, and then stitches picked up. The gusset is then decreased back to the original stitch count. We work the foot, and then decrease the toe, finishing with the kitchener stitch.

I can’t wait to see all your beautiful variegated socks!!
