The Wild Meadow Cardigan is designed to be a relaxed drop-shoulder cardi with pockets and a Scottish wild flower embroidery.

I love knitwear embroidery and I wanted to create my own “plain canvas” piece to let my (and your) imagination run wild.

Add an embroidery or keep it plain. Knit the pockets or not. Keep it all one colour or play with contrasts - it’s all up to you!

You will receive a digital pattern file (great for viewing on tablets or phones) and a print file (without images and instructions on how to print as an A5 booklet).

Construction

  • Drop-shoulder, top-down worked flat
  • Knit-as-you-go pockets
  • Picked up, folded collar
  • Folded hem & cuffs
  • Double Knit button band

Since only the button band is worked in Double Knitting, I opted to attach it with a mattress stitch rather than attaching it as you go (which would mean matching the row gauges of both stitches). This way you don’t need to do any swatching for the Double Knitting.

Sizing

The cardi is graded for ages 3 months up to 12 years. It is designed to have 8cm (3.25”) of positive ease at the chest. Select a size that creates this amount of positive ease based on the wearer chest circumference.

A full schematic is shown in the pictures along with yardage requirements for each size.

Note: Sizes 18-24 mo and 10-12 yr were not test knitted due to a lack of testers. If you would like to test knit one of these sizes, get in touch to learn more (support@wildknitsglasgow.com).
