As a spinner, I have so many beautiful and unique single skeins of yarn. It’s always a challenge to find ways to use them that will highlight their beauty. Finding some commercially spun yarn in a similar weight and structure made the answer perfectly clear! A fun, textured, highly wearable cowl that can be knit until the yarn runs out. If you don’t spin, there are many beautiful fractal yarns on the market that will result in a similar effect.

When choosing yarn to complement your handspun, look for something has similar characteristics. For example, my handspun was a worsted 2 ply, so I looked for a commercial yarn that met that description. If you have a round yarn, look for commercial yarn that’s also round. Or, pair your handspun with something totally different for a unique look!

This pattern is really more of a recipe. Adapt it to your weight and your yardage by changing needle sizes, repeating various sections more or less times, or whatever makes sense with your yarn.

Happy knitting!
