Wonder Years is a seamless top-down cardigan for toddlers and kids! It’s the kid-version of my popular baby cardigan, Little Coffee Bean.

Wonder Years has been updated in 2023! Pattern has been revamped and includes more tips & tutorials. To see if you have the latest version, look at the bottom of the last page (where it has the copyright date) and see if it says “v4.0”. If not, make sure to update in your Ravelry library.

PATTERN INFORMATION:

Sizes: 2T (3T, 4T, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-10)

Finished Chest Circumference:
25.5 (26.5, 27.5, 28.5, 29.25, 32, 32.75)”/
65 (67, 70, 72, 74, 81, 83) cm

Gauge: 18 sts & 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in St st flat

Yarn: Worsted-weight yarn, shown in 220 Superwash by Cascade (100% Superwash Wool; 100g = 220 yds), broken out as follows:
• Main color (MC): approx 440 (500, 550, 600, 650, 750, 800) yds, 2 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4) skeins, shown in color Charcoal Grey.
• Contrasting color 1 (CC1): approx 20-40 yds, shown in color Palm.
• Contrasting color 2 (CC2): approx 20-40 yds, shown in color Natural.

Want 2-row stripes throughout? : If you would like your Wonder Years cardigan to look similar to my Little Coffee Bean cardigan and have 2-row stripes throughout (using 2 different colors), below are approximate yardage amounts you will need:
• Main color (use for stripes & all rib trim) : approx 260 (300, 325, 350, 375, 440, 475) yds.
• Contrasting color: approx 190 (220, 240, 260, 275, 315, 340) yds.

Needles & Other Supplies:
• For Body: US 8/5 mm 24”/60 cm circ needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
• For Sleeves: US 8/5 mm DPNs (or size used to obtain gauge).
• For Neck, Hem & Button Band Ribbing: US 7/4.5 mm 24”/60 cm circ needle, or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge.
• For Sleeve Cuffs: US 7/4.5 mm DPNs (or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge).
• 8 stitch markers.
• 5-7 removable stitch markers (to be used during buttonhole placement).
• 5-7 buttons, 3/4” in diameter.
• Stitch holders, or 2 pieces of scrap yarn, around 20”/51 cm in length.
• Tapestry needle.
