It is winter in the woods, and my woodland friends have wrapped up in hats and scarves to keep the cold weather at bay. With this pattern you can knit 4 woodland baubles: owl, robin, fox and reindeer.

ABOUT THE PATTERN: The pattern has row numbers for each step so you don’t lose your place, instructions for making the four baubles plus photos, a list of abbreviations and explanation of some techniques, a materials list and recommended yarns. The pattern is 8 pages and written in English.

TECHNIQUES: All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles. You need to know how to knit, purl, increase and decrease, knit stripes (change colour at the end of a row) and do some seaming.

  • A pair of straight 3.25mm knitting needles (US 3)
  • 4 ply acrylic yarn; less than 50g in each colour
  • Toy filling
  • Small buttons for eyes
  • Chenille stems/pipe cleaners for the reindeer antlers
