The Ziggy hot air balloons look great either hung individually, for fun home decor, or combined with the mobile attachment to create a stunning baby mobile.

The balloons and mobile attachment have been designed with minimal sewing in mind for a smooth even finish.

The mobile is designed so it can be adjusted to get the
perfect balance and so that the mobile can spin smoothly without the strings ever tangling. The buttons allow the balloons to be swapped throughout the year to keep it
interesting and to add some seasonal décor to the room.

Combine with other patterns from the series to add characters and create a truly personalised display.

Finished Size

• Individual Balloon – 10 cm in diameter, approx. 25 cm from top to basket bottom
• Mobile with Balloons – 24.5 cm ring diameter; approx. 37 cm total hanging length

Both patterns are written in UK terms with full photo guidance. It is classified as ‘easy’ in accordance with CYC guidelines and is perfect for confident beginners looking to improve their skills and intermediate crocheters alike.

Yarn

• Paintbox Cotton DK (100 % cotton, 50 g = 125 m)
  • Ziggy Balloon (1 Balloon Used): Red Wine (Col No. 416 approx 26 g / 65 m) & Champagne White (Col No. 403 approx 17 g / 42.5 m)
  • Mobile Attachment: Champagne White (Col No. 403 approx 49 g / 122 m)
  • For a full mobile with four balloons you will need approx 3 balls each of Red and White

Hooks
3 mm (main) & 2.5 mm (for spirals)

Other Supplies

For the balloons: 10 cm polystyrene ball (1 per balloon), invisible thread, scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers.

For the mobile add: wooden ring (24.5 cm diameter), 4 buttons (1.5 cm), 2.5 cm swivel clip, invisible thread.

Gauge:

• Balloon – Rounds 1–5 = 4.5 cm diameter using 3 mm hook
• Mobile – 10 sts × 12 rows = 5 cm square using 3 mm hook

⚠️ Gauge is critical for fit between the balloon and mobile components.
