“Ziggy! Zaggy!” is a pattern that allows crocheters to have fun selecting their very own multitude of colors, from plain and neutral, to wild and crazy. Knitters have a lot of fun with patterns that allow the knitter come up with a scheme of colors to customize their projects, and they share their color ideas in the projects section for the pattern when they start the project. Now, crocheters can enjoy the same kind of creative fun!

With Ziggy! Zaggy! you can make a scarf or a wrap, pick out a color scheme that is all your own, and decide the order of your rows. In the pattern, I give you the instructions for the stitch pattern with ideas for row sequence and colors. The stitch pattern is a steep wavy stitch. It’s easy to memorize, and easier to stay on track than some of the other wavy or chevron patterns. And, you can add background rows and zig zag stripe rows in any order you wish. Then, you have the option to add mini tassels to the ends, or you can leave them wavy without tassels. Instructions are included for the mini tassels.

You can buy yarn, or use leftover yarn like I did. I use a lot of fingering and sock weight yarn in my designs, and I’ve been saving my leftovers for quite a while. So, finally, I decided it was time for Ziggy! Zaggy! to come to life. I used my leftovers, and faded one color of speckle yarn into the other as the background color, and I used coordinating bright solid and multicolored yarn for the zig zag stripes that stand out.

Use speckled, hand-painted, gradients, tweeds or solid colored yarn. And, it’s easy to adapt the pattern to sport, DK, or worsted weight yarn. So, find your yarn, get creative, have fun and personalize your Ziggy! Zaggy!.
