I’m not entirely sure when I started this, but I’m guessing around 2005-2006. Sometime towards the end of college. This was one of those “rip the freebie pattern sheet off the rack at Michael’s” patterns. Back then I was a total beginner had no real sense of the time knitting and crochet can take, and definitely no appreciation for the importance of “slow and steady” when working on large projects. Keep at it regularly, and you will make your way closer to completion.

That is the opposite of what I did, and thus, it was shoved in the back of closets for many years. However, my theme for 2020 was “Finish Projects!”, so out it came! Now, having made several large pieces with MUCH thinner yarn, this afghan seemed to fly by. Ideally it would be larger, but the primary goal here was to just get it done. I worked on it till I ran out of yarn, and tweaked the design on one side to accommodate what I had left. I actually did need to buy more of the brown yarn, but the colorway was discontinued so I had to scour around on eBay to find another skein.

The completed afghan ended up approximately 54” x 46”.
