November 6, 2019: Holding a fingering sock yarn and lace mohair/silk together. I got gauge of 25 sts and 34 rows across 4 inches. It is tighter than the pattern gauge because I am using sport weight (fingering plus lace) yarn.

Casting for Adult Medium. Long tail cast on 112 sts with US 5 needles. Switched to US 3 immediately for the body.

This hat fits my daughter’s 21 inch head perfectly. It is a little too snug for my 22 inch head.

Knit for 7.5 inches. Then I folded the brim and did a round of K2tog by picking up sts from the long tail cast on row. I knit for another inch before turning sides.

Knit 17 cm more before starting decreases. For the decreases I did a modified ssk (slip 1 st k-wise, slip the next stitch p-wise, transfer to the LHN and knit the two sts tog tbl).

Measurements after blocking:
Width: 20 inch circumference (outside measurement)
Length with cuff folded: 10 inches tall

The cuff is folded 3 times and quite thick. The width measurements are on the outside of the hat. The width of the part that actually sits on the head is at least about 1/2 an inch smaller.
