Notes

Today after three months I finally finished my Frida’s Flowers Skirt. Made with mercerized cotton 10 and a 1.75 mm hook. Pictures are not the best. But isn’t it lovely?

I initially started in February thinking about using the flowers as squares. But then, I saw the beautiful fabric created by joining the hexagons. So I started crocheting hexagons for my skirt on April 5, 2019.

I used the JAYGO instructions found on page 6 of Frida’s Flowers Block 6 - Ring of Roses. Most importantly is hiding your threads as you go.

I crocheted four rows of 12 hexagons each. I do believe that ten hexagons per row would have been enough. But my end result fits and drapes just fine.

I made the flowers and followed my instincts on placing, making pentagons, of cosmos flower and dahlia bud patterns, for the hip to waist curve. I added a few rows of a lacy pattern with a pattern repeat sequence multiple of 6 stitches. Obviously I counted my stitches but I forgot how many I had. For the waistline band I crocheted 3 sc in every sp and sc in every st around, slst to begin st. Then I made ch 4, 2trtog in same st. Ch 1, sk 1 st, tr in next st, Ch 1, sk 1 st, 3trtog in next st to end of row, slst to beg st. Ch 1, sc in same st, 2 in every space, slst to beg st, fasten off and hide ends. Crochet and Icord or use a grosgrain ribbon for the waist band.
Here is the link to my hexagons placement.
