I purchased this yarn in Lerwick, on Shetland, while on a Viking Cruise, in April 2022. It was exactly what is needed for this pattern. I don’t know if that’s a happy accident, or if that is the perimeter of design for the official Shetland Wool Week hat every year, and that was why the shop lady suggested it.

I used Stitch Fiddle to work out how I wanted the colors to work, and added the chart generated from that to Knit Companion, which is how I prefer to follow patterns.

I knit an in-the-round mini swatch, and was surprised to find that I got gauge with the recommended needles.

Although I won’t finish by tomorrow (end of wool week), I’m making good progress. Next year, I will be able to start earlier, because I will be on the mailing list, and get the pattern quicker.
