Up-date. 18.12.21 This blanket has been gifted to my middle daughter Catherine’s friend Fiona, who needs a little comfort at this time.
This is blanket number 15 of the 2018/19 Stash-Down Blanket Extravaganza where my daughter Libby and I are trying to use up all of our unwanted yarn.
I saw a lovely blanket on Pinterest here and wanted to make one, but try as I might, I can never do muted colours.
My blanket is turning out to be bright and colourful, but that is o.k., I am using up the unwanted yarn and someone will like it.
Not sure how big this one will end up. I have made 130 starter squares so far and I will see if I want to add to it when I have used them up. This should make a nice size lapghan.
For each square I am using two shades of one colour. 2 rounds for the centre colour and 3 rounds for the outer colour and trying to distribute the colours evenly.
Quite pleased with how it is turning out so far and may continue to make a larger blanket if I don’t get bored with it.
I didn’t want to choose colours for the next blanket, so I kept on with this one as I had plenty of yarn left.
It ended up being a single bed size blanket and I quite like it, although I only have one single bed in my house and it already has a blanket.
For the border I just went around with granny clusters for a few rounds and left it simple. I can always add to it later if I want to.

I use Bunny Mummy’s technique for the first round of border here. So no ruffle edging.
