Blanket No: 22 of the 2018/19 Stash-Down Blanket Extravaganza.

This one is going to be for my younger granddaughter Eva. She has a new bedroom and of course she needs a new blanket.

Not sure if she will like the colour combination. She originally requested purple. I sorted all of the purples, pinks and greens and added a silver to the mix, as her new carpet is grey.

Nope, she didn’t like the colours together, so I will give this one to one of my great nieces, once I have one more made as there are 3 of them.

Going to make Eva a purple blanket, she doesn’t want any other colours!

Some of the squares are a little dark, but when the white border is added, it brightens them up considerably.

Working 6 rounds of granny joining the 4 squares together on the 6th round, then going around the 4 squares once with a colour and twice with the white.

Using the JAYG method for joining the squares. A great tutorial being here.

I used Bunny Mummy’s method for the first round of the border, see here for information.

As I can’t master the act of picking colours randomly, I worked all of the centres up first and then I put one of each colour into a pot. I then dip into the pot and pull out a colour randomly for each round. It seems to be working so far and is so quick. I get so bogged down when choosing colours and it can be quite time consuming. Not this time.

I have made a rule that no adjoining squares start or end with the same colour though.

I will work a few squares with graduating shades as well.

So far so good. Just got to wait until Eva comes at the weekend for her seal of approval, or not, as the case may be.

If she doesn’t like it, I will gift it to someone else, or make 2 lap blankets out of the squares and get Eva to choose her preferred colours.

Either way, it will use up a lot more of the unwanted stash yarn:)

Border:

5 rounds of white granny clusters.
Rd 6: In corner 3dc, sl st in next space between clusters, ch 3, 2dc repeat all around.
