If everything is hanging from my belt, and a tote bag isn’t Renaissance-ish, where should I put my water bottle or umbrella? Another belt pouch of course.

Easy, no pattern required. Use any method you like to create a flat circular base about 2 1/2 inches across for a typical small water bottle. I use this method: Then use any stitch you like to make the body. Mine is 2 rows of sc and then 4 rows of (dc, ch) for a mesh look, repeated 3x. When pouch is about 8 inches long start the strap in any stitch you like. Make it any length you like. My strap is 7 sts wide, alternating a row of sc and a row of dc, about 8 inches long. I like the finished look and extra shaping support of working 2 rows of sc around the strap and pouch opening. I tightened the corners slightly with decreases. Fold the end of the strap over to create belt loop any size you need. My belt loop is 2 inches for a belt 1 1/2 inches wide. You can use the yarn tail to sew your belt loop down, but I made a few inches of chain to thread through stitches and make a bow, because I don’t want the loop size to be permanent.
