My first CAL!
This project is for the Nerdy Hookers’ Weird and Wonderful RALWALPALCAL which is my first ever CAL.
I can’t imagine there’s any little girl who never dreamed about being a princess as a kid, especially if she could be a princess as pretty as this one!
This is probably the most complicated pattern I have attempted since I started learning to crochet. Hope it turns out!
The pattern is no longer posted on Etsy but can be purchased here. She is based on the princess from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog.
Pattern Notes
Working in hdc and dc so much for amigurumi was pretty neat. There seem to be some unnecessary chains in the pattern though, and areas that could just as easily be worked in spiral rounds rather than joined rounds. There are a lot of spots in the instructions which are unclear, and the author uses the term “space” which I found ambiguous and confusing. The pattern should be more specific by referring to the specific stitch that should be worked in.
The widest the head gets is 30 stitches, yet the hair is 36 stitches at its widest. This made the hair noticeably too big for my doll. I had to pad the head between the hair and the head to get it to fit better, as I didn’t want to redo the hair piece to shrink it.
I like the pattern quite a bit but if I were to do this project again I would rewrite the pattern first to fix all the weird things I found. I think I would also add an extra round to the skirt to make it just a bit longer.
