Notes

05-12-2017

In the queue. Needs to be hand wound.

Plan for today: SWATCH!

Copied from QtMousie’s Gambrel:

NOTE: Pattern needs this errata: on the 2nd Next Row the word TURN is missing from the end of the stitch repeat This had caused great confusion and for a while I was basically vlos My off the hole of the arm versus making a band of the lace ladder.

07-22-2017

Will pick up to knit today. Received Lykke driftwood needles in the mail as the metal needles were too slippery.

I swatched with Addi’s, but started knitting with the same size in Lykke needles and now the gauge has changed. I will have to go down at least one needle size to get gauge. Should I order a US7 or US8?

08-12-2017

Cast on again on US7 (4.5mm) needles. Gauge seems a lot better. 1” knit this morning.

Still seems too large for LysandraKnits.

09-16-2017

Knitting side shaping rows. Having to untwist quite a bit even though I hand-wound the skeins.

I have knit 100 grams of the Kestral so far. I am moving right along with the project!

09-22-2017

Separated for sleeves.Knitting on the one side while the other two are on waste yarn.

10-05-2017

Making progress shaping the armholew

10-24-2017

Blocking. When dry, will graft shoulder seams and then pick up edge stitches for sleeves.

10-26-2017

Picking up armseye stitches in CC and knitting lace ladder.

10-30-2017

Picked up stitches for second sleeve this morning. The cc stitches are easily memorizable.

10-31-2017

Finished with the knitting. Now weaving in the many ends. Next, finishing the edges by crochet, and then crocheting the front edges together by crochet. I must go to YouTube to learn crochet techniques.

This yarn has been a challenge for me to work with. I used an empty cylinder plastic bottle with an elastic band fastened around it to wind the fingering weight yarn. I unrolled excess yarn as I went along. This helped to keep the yarn from tangling while I was pulling it to knit with it. Also, this organic linen yarn is not very “forgiving” of slightly uneven work even after the first blocking.

11-01-2017

Finished crocheting front edges together, steamed to block and is ready to mail.

11-07-2017

Shipped today.
