After a full month of knitting every day for hours on end, the Twists and Turns shawl is finally complete and blocking.

I love the shawl, as an art piece, but I find that I'm not much one for wearing shawls.

The edging I added to the shawl does seem to correct the curling problem with the "wavy river" section.

Continuing on from the end of the striped wing section I've added a 5 stitch border to help prevent the curling that is happening along the twisted stitch band.

At the end of Clue 3, before making any I-cord, I have 3.1 ounces or 88g left. Not sure of the yardage because I can't find my yardage counter!

Clue 3 complete, minus the optional "worms" that are worked through the cables. I only have 3.1 ounces of AC left so I'm waiting to see what Clue 4 brings before committing to the I-cord worms.

I've decided that I like the look of the "O" cable being closed before bind off (bottom example) so now I need to rip back the I-cord bind off and last row of the 4th section (top) and reknit them. too bad I hid the ends so well.

I didn't bother to close the final "O" cable, but you could. It would involve doing the cable movements while also decreasing.

I switched out the "S" shaped cables for the small "O" ones shown here. It's a simple substitution. On Rows 5, 13, 21, and 29 do a C4B, C4F. On Rows 9, 17, and 25, do a C4F, C4B.

In Clue One, the stitches at each end (those before the first marker and after the last marker) increase by one stitch at the end of each repeat, but watch out for RS rows 11, 13, and 15 where they will be one stitch higher before the first marker only.

Continuing on from the striped wing area I’m adding a 5 stitch border to tie things together and to help control the curling of the “wavy river” band.

Band of 5 stitches:
RS: k4, sl2 wiyif (1 st is from the band)
WS: k2tog, k1, sl3 wyif.
Repeat following the outline of the shawl, going more than one into the corner band stitches.

I’m submitting this shawl in a Community Art Show at our local museum and the submission had to have a name, so I’ve now renamed my project page to match. This shawl will now be named “Handspinner’s Twisted Odyssey”.
I wanted to include “handspinner” in the title to bring attention to the fact that the whole thing is knit from handspun. “Twisted” is a nod to the original title of the Stephen West pattern, and “Odyssey” because this is very much the most difficult and time consuming knitting journey I have ever undertaken and I have learned a lot along the way.
