Notes

This pattern is named Dragon Force & has instructions to make the same size shown here in fingering-weight yarn as well as the option to use a percentage system so you can use any weight or yardage. Because of this I’m looking for testers who want to make the shawl in non-fingering weights as well as the standard fingering-weight version.

I used slightly over 90% each of 3 skeins of fingering-weight yarn from The Girl Who Crafted for this sample. Total finished weight is 278g so 1,218 yrds / 1112 m used. (And I absolutely love it!! laughing)

The entire shawl is done in garter-stitch with just a few well/placed increases & decreases. It’s worked in mitered sections so once you finish working your first section, you won’t have to weigh any yarn again until the border. (Or not at all if you’re making the standard fingering-weight version. joy)

I’ve finished blocking it & as I expected, it grew quite a bit. Before blocking it was about 45”/114 cm at it’s widest point. After blocking it’s measuring in at about 56” / 142 cm, so this size isn’t a small-scale project.

But it can easily be a smaller project if you use the percentage system (hello, #Splashpadparty20 prize entries!) Or it can be way bigger if you want a shlanket! wink

Note about the yarn:
I’m absolutely in love with how these colorways played together in this shawl and just can’t get over how nicely the grey mottled in the border. The little flecks of pinky-red in the yellow skein match up perfectly with the red skein so the overall effect of the shawl is similar to a picture that’s been colored with markers or very pigmented watercolors.

There’s still obviously a high contrast between the colorways, but because of the speckles & mottling the lines aren’t quite as harsh as they might be. I can’t get over how pretty they knit up together, so so much love for these yarns & colorways!! (And Sari & Brian are super wonderful to hang-out with & work with so that always helps. wink two_hearts )
