I had this yarn in my stash for many years because I couldn’t find a suitable pattern for it. Miraculousely, my gauge in this yarn was almost itentical with the one in the pattern. Actually, the pattern has two gauges - one for the stockinett, the second one for the “point godron” (2 rs k, 2 rs p). And they both matched with mine which I took as a sign and promptly made this pullover.
It has a highly unusual construction and is made not from 4 but 6 parts sewn together at the end. I followed the pattern to the T all the while dreading the final result since it didn’t look like the parts will fit together. Yet - a miracle again, no less - they all fit at the end and I was glad that I didn’t change anything.
Ha, of course I did, but only very little. I used a tubular cast on and cast off, and took some time picking up the collar (spent 3 hours on line watching a master class and figuring out some new techniques). Oh, and I had to make my sleeves shorter. Otherwise, no changes. Great pattern! It is from Phildar Automne-Hiver 2018-19 issue called Nos Fils Essentiels that I found on Etsy(!).
The yarn though is a big disappointment. It sheds mercilessly and I am now looking for different methods to address this problem. Because this sweater is right what I needed and I am going to wear it a lot.
