This pattern and yarn was purchased from Michaels as a Black Friday Doorbuster for $39.99. I thought it was a decent price for 20 skeins of bulky yarn ($5 regular price), a crochet hook, and the pattern supposedly enough to complete two afghans.
I was disappointed only because I had to purchase another skein of each of the solid colors in order to complete this afghan as printed. I made the other afghan adjusting the pattern to crocheting 3 rows of each color instead of 2/4 as the pattern states. I did have to purchase another skein of the variegated yarn, but better one skein instead of three.

I just wanted to update this project by stating that I made no adjustments to the pattern itself. I was making an error the first several times I attempted to make this. I just ripped it out and started again. Eventually I figured out what I was doing wrong. Just keep at it - you will persevere.
I happened to run across a post on Facebook about this Epic Bag. I’ve been crocheting for over 50 years now. Tension plays a huge role in our finished projects. To complete the throw as was designed I had to purchase extra skeins - not because there wasn’t enough yarn yardage in the kit, but because the yardage needed per color was wrong. This may not be an issue for you as your tension may be different than mine. I realize there are always know it alls in every crochet group - I do not claim to be one. These notes were what I found to be problematic for me. I love to crochet - love creating with fiber. It’s been a love I’ve continued for over 50 years. Happy hooking!
