Notes

Jennifer Woods never disappoints. I loved this design the minute I saw it. It’s meant to fit with a bit of negative ease in order to best show off the beautiful lacy yoke.

This pullover was knit holding two strands of yarn together.

Needles used:

Size 4 US - Neckline, entire lacy yoke, lower ribbed band and ribbed sleeve bands. (If I knit this for myself using the same yarn, I think I’ll just stick with the size 5 US needle for the entire lace chart. My row gauge with this yarn is a bit smaller, so the lace doesn’t come down as far as I’d like on my taller frame - using the size 4 US needles.)

Size 5 US - Body (beneath yoke) and sleeves

Size 1.5 US - Jenny’s Surprisingly Stetchy Bind-Off for all ribbed bands except for the sleeve cuffs and bind-off.

What I did differently:

  • I did 11 rounds straight after finishing the yoke (rather than the 2 rounds stated in the pattern for my size). I’m tall and my row gauge was a bit too short.

  • I cast on 10 sts under the arms rather than the 4 sts recommended for my size. I did this because my stitch gauge was smaller. However, the pullover fits me perfectly with these small modifications. Although this will be a gift for my niece, she’s about the same size.

  • With Jennifer’s permission, I made fuller and longer sleeves than her sample. Following is how I did the sleeves using size 5 US needle:

Picked up 56 held sts + 10 sts under arm = 66 sts

(Work 17 rnds straight. Then increased 2 sts (L & R lifted increases) on next rnd.)

Repeat above sequence 6 more times. (80 sts total)

Knit 4 rounds straight.

K2 tog all around = 40 sts.

Using the same size 5 needle, I then did 20 rounds of 1 x 1 ribbing.

Bound off using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off with size 5 US needle.

Finished measurements:

Body circumference - 32” (So 3” of negative ease on me) My niece prefers her pullovers to fit snuggly, so this will be perfect for her. I did no waist shaping. The negative ease gives enough waist shaping.

Finished Measurements:

Body circumference = 32” (3” negative ease)

Length from underarm to bottom edge = 13” (10” + 3” ribbing)

Sleeve length from underarm = 19.5” (16.5” + 3” ribbing)

Widest part of sleeves = 13” in circumference
