All the stripes! All the colors! Fun fact: I designed all three of these colorways! :D Here’s what I’m doing…

2 balls of Pinwheel held together at the same place in the striping, to make approx worsted weight of the Pinwheel colorway

1 ball of Auggie and 1 ball of Ribbit held together to make marled self-striping. These two colorways have a lot of similar hues and they seem to be coincidentally aligning, so it’s a subtle marl.

And then throughout the whole hat I’m striping 2 rounds of the marled, 1 round of the Pinwheel.

Based on my measurements (as written in pattern) I’m stopping the crown increases at 96 stitches.

This is a LOOSE gauge on the size US 9 needles, but I’m going for a slouchy hat so I think it’ll work well.

I did 2x2 ribbing for the brim so that it can fold up.

I made it super long to fold up and be slouchy, but the slouch was so extreme that I ended up cinching up the back to pull it in and control the slouch.

To cinch it up, I cut the end of the bind-off yarn like 15” long, I folded the brim up to the spot I liked, then brought the yarn through to the inside of the hat there, to tack up the brim. Then I simply threaded (I used a crochet hook, but a blunt yarn needle would be even easier) the yarn up through the carried strands inside the back, where the yarns were carried up for striping. Just looped it through each of the strands that were carried up 2 rows, easy peasy. When I got to the top, I cinched it up, then I tied it to the yarn that had been used to close up the top hole, so everything it secured together on the inside. Since it’s hidden inside, I didn’t weave in any ends, so that way if I ever want to remove the cinch I can easily.

It was already pretty huge, and then when I washed up (by hand) it got SO HUGE so I machine dried it and it pulled back in a bit and is superduper soft and comfy!
