Ms. Fran, a lovely lady I knew from church, hinted at wanting one of my shawls in a teal yarn. Debbie, (another lovely lady I know from church) and I decided to make it happen for her as a gift, but she passed away from ovarian cancer just days after I started working on the shawl. We decided to go ahead and complete the shawl and give it as a gift to Ms. Fran’s niece, Jess, in memory of her.

The yarn we chose wasn’t exactly teal, but as close as we could find at the time. It’s Expression Fiber Arts’ Superwash merino wool in lace weight, colorway Sea Glass Green. The colorway is no longer available.

I made a shawl from this pattern once before, but the yarn was yak silk rather than wool. The blocked results are slightly different, as I feel the yak silk is better suited and holds its shape a little better after blocking, but the wool is an acceptable substitute. :)
