I use slip stitches for the first and last 4 stitches in every 3rd row to help eliminate the gapping effect on the sides.

I use the F hook to make slip stitches on each side and the H hook to do slip stitches across the top.

I use the pattern called for 12 chains for the ear loops except adding a chain for larger faces.

Craft wire can be used for shaping on the top by sewing it on the back above the filter pocket or by doing sc’s over it at the top of the mask.
