Something fun and different form Helen Shrimpton. You will need to use dk yarn and a size 4 mm (G) hook in order to have proper fit. Not much yarn is needed, and it’s a great way to use up scraps. This also makes a great gift. It works up fast. One evening can complete the project. So drag out all you fancy do-dads, ribbon and have a blast.
You will need to have a 10-inch hoop. I got my mandala finished and laid it in the middle of the hoop and thought it was too small. Don’t be fooled. Helen tells you that there will be a 2-inch difference. I used stitch markers to attach the piece in places to be sure of good fit. Stitching to hoop really doesn’t take as long as I thought, but I did keep forgetting to add the ch-1. It is amazing how well it fits and how pretty it looks. Pulling it out really brings out the stitches.
I added beads along the bottom. I got these at Hobby Lobby I added lots of ribbon and there you have it.
I did make a second sun-catcher in teal and a gold yarn. This was made from mystery yarn gifted to me. I can tell you the teal is the same color as Hobby Lobby’s I love this yarn called just “Teal” The gold is a very thin yarn that has a “fuzziness” to it. Dig through your stash. I’m sure you will find just the perfect yarn!
