Swatching on 50 stitches.

2 x 1 rib at SS 4.0 for 20 rows.
(DK Truss used ribbing at 3.1)

Then transferred to MB all but 4 ribs at one side and 1 on the other (35 stitches). Trying SS 7.0 on MB and 1 on ribber for 20 rows and SS 6.0/1.0 for a further 20 rows.

Based on the UNWASHED swatch, my gauge is 19 stitches and 26 rows in 10 cm. I am now going to knit a better swatch on SS 7.0/1.0 with ribbing at SS5.0.

Second swatch:

20 rows of ribbing on 5.0 x 5.0.
Then 38 rows of stockinette with some ribs on 7.0 x 1.0.

I swear I measured the second swatch after it was good and dry and got 26 rows/10cm, but now (weeks later) I get 27? How does that happen? Adjusting row counts on the fly. Luckily, stitches are still 19/10cm.

Note for future reference re the collar. Do not try to force the carriage across to knit the stitches picked up from the cast-off back. It jammed, and one latch was bent (pliers to the rescue). Just do it by knitting the needles back manually from the get-go…

15 rows of 2x1 rib before creating extra ribber bed stitches for industrial 2x2 rib (identical both sides) for the collar. 40 rows in total, last row on SS10.0, cast off loop through loop without transferring stitches. This was a bit harder than if all stitches were on the main bed, but the edge is nice looking and stretchy.

Yesterday I finished and blocked the sleeves and collar. Today they are dry enough to do the seaming by hand with mattress stitch.

It is possible the sleeves will be on the too-long side but we shall see.

I added a gusset that is 20 cm long and 5 cm at the widest point.
