4/2/19 - My plan is to hold the Lettlopi doubled, which should give me the equivalent of bulky weight. Galaxy colorway doesn’t come in any heavier weight of Icelandic wool. Gauge swatch worked out using a 10 1/2 needle, but as usual my row gauge is off, I get 18 rows in 4” instead of 20… will have to figure out how that will affect the fit
4/26/19 - knitting while travelling works well, sort of… I didn’t get anywhere near as much done as I had hoped. AND more disturbing, was that I neglected to realise that not getting row gauge meant that if I knit the pullover as instructed it would be a mid hip length instead of a cropped garment, which was SO TOTALLY NOT my intention or desire. I am stopping the body knit halfway through the lovely triangles. Sigh. Why even with this well written and designed pattern do I end up having problems due to my body configuration. Giant bosom + Very Short Waisted and tiny shoulders always makes things difficult. It will still be a good and useful addition to my wardrobe, assuming that I don’t run into any sleeve issues.
I still need to figure out how best to deal with the Very Wide and Open neckline, as going down a size didn’t snug it up enough. I am considering a ribbing border, or something… must consult my EZ books etc
4/27 - did several rows of HBS on the bottom of the body, then bound off using the Icelandic bindoff. Started on the sleeves.
4/30 - One sleeve done, and another begun. My current idea for the neckline is to add about a 2” border in the HBS stitch, mitering it at the center “v” and the back corners where the sleeve meets the back. It won’t be the exact Ursa design, but a slightly adapted version…
5/2/19 - I carefully counted where I made the decreases on sleeve #1, since if I actually followed the instructions the sleeve would have been far too long for my short dinosaur arms! Now almost halfway done with sleeve 2, making sure to have it match up with sleeve 1.
5/3/19 - sleeves finished. Created a neckline border using the half-brioche stitch, to coordinate with the other design elements. Figured out how to adapt the directions for a regular ribbed vee neckline border, with a double decrease on every round, because narrow vee. Added two extra rounds to the all around the body ribbing. All cast off edges done in Icelandic cast off.
I call it a success!
2/6/24 - I’ve been wearing this more in this recent winter than in years past, and have decided that the neckline is still too loose. If it is cold enough that I want to wear a wooly pullover, then I want it to be cozy, not wide open around my neckline and chest. I intend to add at least two rows of applied I-cord, to pull it in further and stabilise it

2/7/24 - ended up adding just one 3 stitch applied I-cord around the neckline. I skipped one stitch on either side of the center vee, and just one on either shoulder, in order to shape the new border. (started first with a 4 stitch I-cord, but that was too puffy) This adjustment is perfect, the neckline still has a vee shape, but covers more of me for warmth, and the ribbing border I originally added makes a nice visual accent…
