Notes

Taking the opportunity to make another item for my Outlander inspired knitting - Mo Nighean Donn “my brown haired lass”, though in the book Outlander its simply Mo Duinne “my brown one”. Our hero, Jamie, tells his love Claire, that her hair is “dark in the wavy spots with bits of silver on the surface…” so I’m using the dark brown, highlighted by silver grey and the third color, the golden amber, is to represent the color of Claire’s eyes in the book (“…with your great eyes, all gold” he says to her in Chapter 36 of Voyager)

I’m making this with natural brown Corriedale wool and alternating the contrasting colors with the mc on the border, similar to Brooklyn Tweed’s Kelpie. The contrasting colors are moorit, silver and golden amber. Will possibly add creamy white?

Purchased Gudrun’s Craftsy class and also joining in her group kal as well as the KnitBritish kal. I’ve just finished the mini-hap (pictured) as a “swatch” for the half-hap. The KnitBritish kal doesn’t officially start until April 10th and that’s when I’ll begin, too. It works out well, since that will be after Lent.

Started on the edging rows the evening of Mothers Day Sunday and they’re just flying by…can’t seem to put it down, I’m really loving it!

Spent a couple of days contemplating my border. I knew I didn’t want the lace border, considered the picot bind off (like Simmer Dim has) or an I-cord bind off. Decided on the I-cord because I wanted something very straight-forward. Went up to a size 9 needle for the bind off.

So thrilled with the finish project (not blocked yet, but off the needles and draped across the chair for me to admire) We’re being pounded by rain today, but if it lets up and lightens up just a little I’m going to try for some pictures this afternoon.

I want to cast on right away for another! ;) The second photo (on the fence) is the finished shawl. I only dampened and finger blocked it, and it measures 62” across at the widest and is about 30” deep at the center point. Nice and cozy around the neck.
