This yarn is spun from fleeces of Charmois ewes raised by the nuns at the Greek Orthodox Monastère de la Transfiguration in the Dordogne in France. These sheep won first prize at the concours général agricole in Paris for the quality of their fleece. The sisters shear and card the wool, and it is sent away to be washed and spun then returned for sale from the monastery. A genuine, original and authentic product, plain and simple, only four very traditional colours (écru, taupe, burgundy and dark brown), very reasonably priced.
