Gairloch Museum

Gairloch Museum

Gairloch Museum is famous for its Gairloch Pattern knitting, many items of which feature in the collection. The pattern originated at the time of the Great Highland famine in the 1840s. Women started exchanging their knitting for food to support their families through the destitution years.
