Green Sheep Yarns
I am a part time stay at home mom (he’s a teenager now), and I love doing all sorts of crafts. One day as I was knitting, I started thinking of ways to get my hands on lots of yarn in a thrifty way. I had an old sweater at home, and I decided to have a go at unraveling it. I realized I could easily recycle yarn that way. The idea to start dying them came when I saw diy tips on Pinterest. I love thinking I can give a second chance to these castaway items.
My process is rather simple, I start by unraveling the knitted item (it has been prewashed first). Then I wind it in balls, and steam the yarn for a good 1/2 hour (it removes excess wrinkles, and gives it another clean). Next step is to make hanks with the yarn, so that it can be dyed. After the deying process, I clean them one last time and hang them to dry. I can now make skeins and put them in my shop.
Obviously this creates unique lots of fibers and colors. So if you like what you see, grab it while it’s there!
